Open Question: Installing linux inside of windows?

Hello, I would like to install Debian inside of Windows XP. What is the best software to use for this vmware, virtual box, something else? Will there be performance issues with Linux running inside windows? Or I won't notice a difference? I will just be using Linux for programming anyway, will the compilation time be slower than if I was running Linux normally? Do you guys recommend I just stay with the dual boot and booting into one or the other? The PC I would run it on is 2.4GHz 1.5GB RAM, how much would Debian consume? Max XP takes up with 20 tabs open in Firefox, word, 10 notepads etc it around 800MB. Since I have more than hard drive, would it make a difference if I installed kdevelop on a different hard drive than XP is on and then had linux run in xp? I mean Linux not kdevelop... Read More »
